Brief Description

The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) investigates reported GBV cases and refers them to Isange One-Stop Centers (IOSCs) for medical, legal, and support services. The National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) prosecutes these cases, with specific units dedicated to GBV. The NPPA has also established a Sex Offenders Registry, launched on October 11, 2021, to publish the names of offenders convicted of defilement and rape. The Ministry of Justice’s Access to Justice Bureaus (MAJ), operating at the district level, provides legal advice and referrals for GBV victims, focusing on civil damages. Civil society organizations (CSOs) collaborate with government institutions to offer legal and psycho-social support to GBV victims.
